Passion is at the heart of ESOF2010, a passion to understand and know more, a passion for science.
The fourth ESOF – Euroscience Open Forum will be held from 2 to 7 July 2010 at the Lingotto in Torino, and for the first time ever in Italy.
Students, young researchers and scientists, teachers and experts, journalists and politicians, science buffs and members of the public will meet at ESOF2010 to explore the frontiers of scientific and technological research and to debate controversial topics and compare experiences.
ESOF is an important event that is held every two years and is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and to their impact on society.
It involves leading scientists and young researchers: the past and the present. One of the key objectives of ESOF2010 is to provide career openings and targeted programmes for postgraduates and young researchers. These young scientists, the future of research and social progress, will be the lifeblood of the Italian forum.
After a close-run competition between Copenhagen, Paris and Wroclaw, Torino was chosen to host the coming Euroscience forum. In 2010 the capital of the Savoia will welcome 5,000 scientists, teachers, journalists, politicians, representatives from the world of industry and technical and scientific communicators.
The meeting represents a unique opportunity of its kind in Europe: for six days, from 2 to 7 July 2010, ESOF2010 will stage over 120 meetings and 20 Keynote Lectures given by high-calibre figures from the international world of science.
As well as science and technology, the key players of ESOF2010 will be the city of Torino and its inhabitants. As is borne out by its long experience as a city-laboratory, its traditional status as a capital of science and industry and its commitment to the scientific education of its citizens, the city has always highlighted the role of youth and creative skills.
With its talent for dynamic innovation and development in various sectors, ranging from the automotive industry to film, museums, aviation, gastronomy and fashion, Torino has been singled out once again to host a cultural event of international importance.
