Torino will host theEuroscience Open Forum – ESOF 2010 and will therefore hold the title “Science City” for 2010.

ESOF is the European meeting, held every two years, devoted to scientific research and innovation. It is promoted by Euroscience, an organisation bringing together scientists from 40 European countries. Torino was chosen after tough competition from Copenhagen, Paris and Wroclaw.

ESOF 2010 will take place in the Lingotto Conference Centre from 2 to 7 July, but the whole town will be involved: ESOF puts together the conference and a programme of events and shows in the host city. There is also an exhibition and social and side events: altogether more than one hundred events in just a few days.

Scientists, teachers, policy makers, representatives from the media and business as well as citizens will take part in the meeting: it is a unique opportunity in Europe to present and discuss the challenges of scientific and technological research, the relation between science and society and the policies for promoting scientific research. Special attention is given to the opportunities for young European researchers.

The next edition, ESOF 2008, will be held in Barcelona from July 18 to 22, 2008.

ESOF 2010 will be organised by TopESOF, an association set up by the three promoters of the Torino candidature: CentroScienza Onlus, Centro Agorà Scienza of the University of Turin and by the Compagnia di San Paolo.
